Digital Marketing Coordinator

REMOTE

Empower the Next Generation to End Factory Farming

What would it mean to dedicate your time, talent, and energy to creating a more just and sustainable food system?

New Roots Institute is a growing nonprofit dedicated to ending factory farming by empowering the next generation of advocates. Our fellowship programs train students to lead real-world campaigns that create structural and behavioral change in their communities.

We are looking for a passionate, detail-driven Digital Marketing Coordinator to amplify our impact across digital channels. In this role, you'll help run email campaigns, support paid advertising, assist with website optimization, and dig into the analytics to see what's working. You'll work closely with the rest of the marketing team to bring our story to life, help execute campaigns from concept to completion, and contribute to how we reach and engage the audiences who care about our mission. If you're early in your marketing career and looking for a role where you'll build real, versatile digital skills and contribute to meaningful, mission-driven work, this is it.

Is New Roots Institute the right place for you? Here’s what you should know:

  • Ending factory farming is not merely our employment. We prioritize our lives around it and are looking for people who bring that same commitment, along with the self-awareness and discipline to sustain it.

  • We continuously question our own biases and assumptions and adapt when we recognize we’re wrong. We’re looking for people who can see their ego and know how to put it aside to achieve shared goals.

  • We're results-oriented, strive for excellence, and are looking for people who can say they never miss deadlines.

  • Giving and receiving honest and direct feedback is foundational to our culture and a performance requirement for all of us. We're looking for people who are eager to use constructive feedback to grow and help others to grow, both personally and professionally.

  • Because we work remotely, proactive communication and quick responses are key to building trust and working effectively together. We’re looking for people who excel at keeping everyone updated. If you don’t always respond within a few hours, New Roots won’t be the place for you.

  • We genuinely enjoy working together and look for ways to have fun, despite the tragic nature of what we are up against.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Support execution of email marketing campaigns, including building emails, segmenting audiences, and scheduling. You will also help monitoring deliverability and making any necessary optimizations.

  • Assist with paid advertising efforts across platforms (e.g., Meta, Google, LinkedIn), including campaign setup, creative rotation, and performance monitoring.

  • Help maintain and update the organization's website, including publishing new content, formatting, optimizing, and ensuring pages reflect current programs and messaging.

  • Support tracking and reporting on marketing performance across channels, compiling data into clear summaries that inform tactical strategy and decision-making.

  • Conduct research on marketing trends, competitor activity, and audience behavior to inform channel strategy and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Support ad hoc marketing needs, including proofreading, formatting, and coordinating tasks with the rest of the Marketing and Communications team when needed.

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

  • Foundational digital marketing knowledge. You have some exposure to email marketing, paid advertising, website management, or analytics — through coursework, internships, or prior work experience — and are excited to build deeper expertise across these channels.

  • Detail-oriented and organized. You have a strong eye for detail and can manage multiple tasks and deadlines while staying organized and on track.

  • Data-informed. You are comfortable pulling and interpreting basic marketing analytics to understand what's working and flag opportunities for improvement.

  • Comfortable with marketing tools and platforms. You have experience with or are comfortable quickly learning the tools and platforms that support our marketing emails, ads, social, website, and analytics.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator. You can write clear, engaging copy and communicate ideas clearly in conversation, and are open to feedback on tone, style, and messaging for different audiences and channels.

  • Collaborative team player. You work effectively across teams, incorporating feedback from stakeholders while being able to manage your own workstreams and deadlines.

  • Adaptable and eager to grow. You're comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment and excited to take on new responsibilities as you develop.

Other Requirements

  • Shared vegan and anti-speciesist values. No one on our team consumes animals or animal products or believes that non-human animals can ethically be treated as resources for human use.

  • Ability to commit to attending the annual in-person team meeting, which typically takes place during the first full week of June (Monday through Friday).

  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, remote position with a salary of $62,000 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, and unlimited PTO.

Please note, we have a no-negotiation salary policy to ensure transparency and equity across the team.
